India Travel Luxury and Oberoi HotelsItinerary Summary for The Maharaja's Rajasthan Tour - [14 days]Mumbai - Udaipur - Dungarpur - Devigargh - Deogarh - Rohet - Jodhpur - Nimaj - Jaipur - Samode - Agra - DelhiDay 1 - Mumbai - Reception and welcome at Mumbai airport followed by transfer to your hotel. Overnight at The Leela Kempinksi Hotel. Day 2 - Mumbai - Udaipur - Dungarpur - Udaibilas - Udai Bilas Palace is nestled in idyllic splendor, with the blue waters of Gaibsagar Lake on one side and a cove of private reserve forest on the other. It is the embodiment of the old world charm of princely India. Overnight at the Udaibilas Palace. Day 3 - Dungarpur - Devigargh - Drive to Devigargh (about three and a half hours). Post lunch visit the ancient temples at Eklingji and Nagda. Overnight at the Devigarh Fort & Palace. Day 4 - Devigarh - Drive to Udaipur (about 45 minutes) for a day excursion. Visit the City Palace and its museum across the lake, and the Crystal Gallery at the Shiv Niwas Palace which houses the crystal collection specially commissioned by the House of Mewar. Lunch option either at the beautiful Lake Palace or at the beautfiul Oberoi Udaivilas. Explore the city before an evening cruise around Lake Pichola with its majestic backdrop of the City Palace and the Shiv Niwas Palace, skirting the Lake Palace. Overnight at the Devigarh Fort Palace. Day 5 - Devigarh - Deogarh - Drive three and a half hours to Deogarh Mahal, an imposing fortified palace built in the 17th century. With its battlements, domes and turret, Deogarh Mahal is one of the most impressive destinations in Rajasthan. Day 6 - Deogarh - Rohet - Drive to Rohet (about three and a half hours). Overnight at Fort Rohetgarh. Day 7 - Rohet - Village safari sitting in a jeep, which will allow for an opportunity to visit small villages including the Bishnoi tribes, famous as the earliest environmentalists.Overnight at Fort Rohetgarh. Day 8 - Rohet - Jodhpur - Nimaj - Drive to Nimaj (about two and a half hours) After 45 minutes stop at Jodhpur to visit the Meherangarh Fort, this sprawl along the top of a steep escarpment. Started in 1459 it has walls up to 36 meters high and 21 meters wide towering over the plains. Overnight at the Chhatra Sagar Camp. Day 9 - Nimaj - Jaipur - Drive to Jaipur (about three and a half hours.) Overnight at the Samode Haveli. Day 10 - Jaipur - Visit the Amber Fort, ormer seat of the Rajput rulers of Jaipur, and the Shiladevi temple, which continues to be the private temple of the Royal family, with its exquisite marble carving and silver door. Lunch at The Rambagh Palace, a former home of the Maharaja of Jaipur, then explore the famed "Pink City" and the Hawa Mahal, Palace of Winds. Visit The City Palace with its museums. The royal family still lives in part of the City Palace in the centre of town. then on to the 15th century open-air royal observatory,the Jantar Mantar, built by Maharaja Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur. Overnight at the Samode Haveli. Day 11 - Jaipur - Samode - Drive 40 minutes to the Samode Palace with its magnificent fort which reflects medieval architecture and intricate marble work. The Durbar hall of Samode Palace is one of the most beautifully painted chambers with glass & mina Kari work. Overnight at the Samode Palace. Day 12 - Samode - Agra - Drive to Agra (about five hours). After lunch stop en route to visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned red sandstone city built in the 16th century by the Mughal emperor Akbar. Continue on to Agra (about one hours). Overnight at The Oberoi Amarvilas. Day13 - Agra - Delhi - Tour the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. (Taj Mahal is closed for visitors on Friday). Drive toDelhi along one of India's finest freeways (about four and a half hours) stopping on the way. Overnight at The Oberoi New Delhi. Day 14 - Delhi - Tour Old Delhi, the Red Fort and Jama Masjid India's largest mosque. Ride a rickshaw through the main street. Visit Chandni Chowk with its bustling jumble of shops, temples, mosques and craftsmen's workshops. Then to Raj Ghat, site of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation, and on to New Delhi and the famous India Gate and the splendid Lutyens architecture of the government offices. End the day with a visit to Qutab Minar, a tower of victory, completed in 1368, and the Humayun Tomb of the second Mughal Emperor. Day 15 - Depart early hours for onward destination.
